A website with lots of games and word puzzles for kids is Funbrain.com.
The website is not particularly well designed, and isn't the easiest to navigate, but has a lot of great games and tools for many different subjects.
Tools like excel are helpful for a teacher in the administrative aspects of the job. It can be used as a roster to keep track of your students and all of their contact information. As far as using it in the class room, it is useful with older high school students to work out problems in statistics. For younger students it can be used to teach them organization and how to classify items into lists.
You can create a time line using excel to illustrate a history lesson or create games like bingo for your students who are learning numbers to play.

I agree with you in the fact that this site is not too easy to navigate...it would probably be much more successful if it was.
ReplyDeleteI liked your idea of using Excel to help younger children grasp organization and listing concepts; I'm sure that this can be a difficult concept to teach.
